Pilgrim has a vibrant, worshipful spirit!
We believe that God is in our midst, saving, changing, and healing lives! Being a multigenerational church, our congregation consists of a wonderful blend of seniors, singles, families, teens, and children. People are welcoming, warm, caring, and understanding. We come from many different walks of life and out of many different, and at times, difficult situations. We realize that life is a challenge and frequently a struggle; therefore, we emphasize the life-changing power and presence of Jesus Christ. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you, introduce you to people, and help grow your faith in Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Savior.

PILGRIM'S THEOLOGY
We are a Church of the Lutheran Brethren (CLB)
Pilgrim's theology and practice are traditional and orthodox in nature. We are grounded in the Biblical and Reformation truths emphasized by Martin Luther, the great German reformer of the Roman Catholic Church. We believe in the authority, accuracy and relevancy of the Bible. We teach salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We affirm the ministry of the Holy Spirit as He convicts of sin, leads us to repentance and faith, fills us with God's spirit, and leads us to prayer and contemplation. We are pro-life and traditional marriage in practice. We strongly believe that our faith and belief transforms our way of life!

WHO WAS MARTIN LUTHER?
Martin Luther was a monk and professor of theology who lived and studied in Germany. His teachings and actions led to the Great Reformation, a movement that catalyzed the formation of Protestantism. Luther preached a doctrine of justification not “by good works” but “by grace alone through faith alone”.
Romans 1:17
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” |

ABOUT THE RED TRUCK
Yes! We are the church with the bright red truck. It's often parked out front to take delight in its red, shiny glory. For Christmas, a fresh cut tree is slung in the bed by Pastor Bob and decorated with twinkle lights. In the fall, you may find some pumpkins and a scarecrow. The Pilgrim Red Truck gets a lot of loving attention for Christmas, confirmations, weddings, parades, and festivals! Please stop by any time to snap a photo with your friends and family. Please tag us at #pilgrimlbc. We'd love for you to share with us! Professional photographers are welcome and encouraged to call us to schedule a photo shoot.

FOOD
And Yes! In case you were wondering, food is a BIG part of Pilgrim. We have many chefs known for their "world famous" dishes. Hospitality is a priority for us and we enjoy it . First on the list is our annual Thanksgiving dinner with smoked, grilled turkey and real mash potatoes and stuffing. Our Advent Festival features Norwegian Lefse. An Easter Brunch is prepared and served between services on Easter Sunday. Our Men's Ministry frequently meets for breakfast and dinner. Our Women's Ministry enjoys brunch. Primer Timers have a wonderful lunch served to them each month, the Youth Group always has snacks, and Wednesday Night Suppers are always provided before class. Poppa Whoppers and Mandarin Orange Jello are often on the Wednesday Night menu. And then there are all the other special times to be together for meals and spiritual nourishment. God is good!
We have two major fundraisers during the year, a Fish Fry (or Fishless Fry if Lake Erie fish aren't biting) to support Medical Supplies For Christ and our Youth Group's Spaghetti Dinner (they make meatballs from scratch!).
We often begin meals with the Johnny Appleseed Prayer. We'd like to share it with you: Johnny Appleseed

PILGRIM HISTORY |
In the mid-1960's a small group of people took a critical step in faith and purchased eight acres parcel at 9514 Johnnycake Ridge Road in Mentor. A small house on the property became the parsonage. Twenty charter members of the church approved the church constitution in December 1966. Soon after, the congregation broke ground to for a new church building for Pilgrim. That building now serves as our library and preschool/nursery area.
Over the years we have had incredible growth with the expansion of our space including a parsonage, new sanctuary, a fellowship room, new classrooms, and a multipurpose gym called Grace Hall. Outdoors, we are blessed with beautiful grounds, an outdoor pavilion, a fun play area for kids, basketball courts, and a sand volleyball court. We've also expanded our staff. We have amazing volunteers who provide countless hours to projects, ministries, and missions. Praise be to God! We are equipped for ministry to all and would like to share our wonderful facilities with our community. |
